Our Goal
The goal of SanDiegoDiving.com is to promote education about and conservation of the marine environment through direct exposure by diving. It is important for the public to realize that our health, our economic prosperity and our existence all depend on a healthy ocean. One of the biggest challenges that face the marine conservationist is to motivate a public that views the oceans as "out of sight" and "out of mind".

Diving brings the underwater environment to consciousness by allowing people to live underwater temporarily. This is invaluable experience, for how can anyone know or hope to understand and protect what they've never seen? Every new diver represents a shift toward a better informed public.

We further hope to encourage the practice of sustainable development and to suggest that there is a cost to pay for every marine resource used. This realization will help to sustain our future use of marine resources.

SanDiegoDiving.com would like to thank Philippe Cousteau and his family for their past and present efforts to heighten public awareness of the world beneath the sea. In honor of their unmatched accomplishments, we commemorate the launch of this site on June 11, the birthday of Jacques Yves Cousteau.
