CPR Saturday- Free!

When
Saturday, February 22, 2003
7:00am to 1:00pm

Description
Hundreds of instructors and volunteers will be ready to teach thousands of San Diegans CPR at the 12th annual CPR Saturday being held at the San Diego Concourse, 202 C Street, on Saturday, February 22, from 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The free, three-hour CPR training is being offered to the public by the San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter of the American Red Cross. All participants successfully completing the course will receive certification at no cost.

“This free training is a gift we offer the community because we know that having at least one person in every household who knows CPR will make this a safer community,” said Director of Health and Community Education Gabriela VanderMolen. “This year, for the first time, every aspect of the class from the video to the hands-on instruction is available in Spanish. We hope Latinos will take advantage of this opportunity to learn to save lives.”

More than 70 million people in the United States have cardiovascular disease. Each year 220,000 of those die from cardiac arrest. A trained first aid provider can keep the blood and oxygen circulating in the body at a time when each minute is crucial to survival.

Classes start every hour on the hour from 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Participants should arrive 30 minutes prior to the session. A blood mobile will be on-site. The Concourse is easily reached by mass transit and some discount parking is available on a first come, first served basis in the Concourse parking structure. Comfortable clothing should be worn. Childcare is not available.
