Coral Reefs At The Movies
Date: 02/26/03  By SanDiegoDiving.com Editorial

The new IMAX® feature Coral Reef Adventure opened on 2/14/03 at the Reuben H. Fleet theatre. This is a must-see for any diver. At the core of this film are truly stunning visuals by Emmy® award-winners Howard and Michele Hall, Bob Cranston and Brad Ohlund.

coral reefs around the world are threatened and their future is in our hands

The film is a forty-seven minute journey, following the Halls across some of the most beautiful underwater terrain in the world- the Great Barrier Reef, Fiji, Tahiti, Bora Bora and Rangiroa. The message is quite obvious once you've seen the film: coral reefs around the world are threatened and their future is in our hands. The film eloquently states that "we do not inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children".

Notable appearances in the film include a narration by Academy Award® nominated actor Liam Neeson of Star Wars: Episode I fame, a soundtrack by Crosby Stills & Nash and as mentioned, the stellar camera work by the Halls.

The presentation and the footage is more than worth the price of admission, and high marks go to everyone involved in the production and distribution of this film for taking the necessary risks with a film of this nature. Also, some applause should go to those who designed the website that accompanies the film:
